Susan : Hi Susan,
I just ran across your site. I'm blown away by images made with your D3. I was just getting ready to step up to a 5D mark II, but now I don't know. Maybe a D700 (similar sensor to yours). I'm just starting up a children's portraiture business in Los Angeles.
Any feedback will be appreciated. You are quite gifted.
01.19.10, 8:59pm Rob: Susan, I have to admit that after seeing your examples, I went out and purchased a D3. Of course I have always been Nikon. How do you like the switch and the mock wedding, were those images taken with the D3? 02.15.08, 2:57pm Theodore Paradise: Hi Susan - I don't know if you'll come back to these comments, but, now that you've lived with the Nikon system for a while, I wanted to know how the ergonomic transition has been for you (e.g., are you still hunting for that Canon wheel on the back)? What are you finding that you like? Is there is anything that's frustrating or that you miss from your Canon 5D days? Also, thanks for taking the time to put the blog together and keep it up. I find your's and Cliff M.'s to be great reading and a lot of fun to look at. Best regards, Theodore 01.28.08, 9:47am Fotografo: Super picture, super low noise!!! But is really big and heavy! 01.21.08, 2:09am Joost: Hi Susan, Thanks for the review. I too am a Canon man and have been ever since the Eos 5 Eyecontrol in the nineties. However, I am less than pleased with my 1d markIII performance and am considering getting a D3. I have the Canon 85mm 1.2. How is the Nikkor 85mm 1.4 compared to that? thanks! 01.13.08, 11:27am Karen McKinnon: thanks for this. I am awaiting mine and this comforts me that I did the right thing in ordering htem. 12.24.07, 3:33pm Harry Lavo: You can solve the "too many frames" problem by choosing Cl (low continuous) and setting it for just 2 or 3 fps. At least on the D300 you can do that...assume it is the same on the D3. 12.23.07, 9:32am charlie pappas: Fabulous. Do you think you will be adding the 200 f2.0? 12.22.07, 9:27am allan z.: Im soo sick of canon's focus! wow..your post sounds really convincing!! glad your happy! 12.20.07, 2:13pm David Burke: Wow. These are incredible! Glad to see you coming over to the Nikon world :) I can't wait to get mine. 12.19.07, 9:46pm Rachel: those images are STUNNING. wow. 12.19.07, 6:34pm JR: Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing & the insight. Would you mind offering your thoughts on Nikon lenses you like, flash etc? Thanks again. 12.19.07, 5:00pm John Buckingham: Did you burn the corner in the very first image. I know you said you did some sharping. Thanks P.S. You really out did yourself!!!! 12.19.07, 4:27pm Rick Quiroga: Just simply tremendous! You made this body shine through your composition and abilities. Altough I believe YOU could have created these images with a F body. Well maybe a lot grainier! Merry Christmass, -Rick Quirogal 12.19.07, 2:29pm stephen seward: Susan, How do you feel about the weight of the camera shooting a wedding transitioning from 5D's? Will you carry both bodies on you at the same time? And finally, do you feel this camera will change anything dramatic about the way you shoot now? 12.19.07, 12:32pm Steve : Fantastic photos and very helpful review comments of the D3. Thanks! 12.19.07, 12:21pm craig: Yay Susan! Welcome to the *new* dark side! :) Climie has to be simply stewing that you have two and he has none. I just got my D3 the other day and I have not had a chance to put it through its paces. I cannot wait to post up some D3 images too. 12.19.07, 12:18pm Paul Sokal: Susan, I've been using the D3 and D300 for a couple of weeks now and love them. I'm still exploring all the options though. I've got my first wedding using the combo next week. Can you share what custom setting you're using, such as: picture control, focus mode, focus points, etc. Hope to see you in Tampa, Paul 12.19.07, 12:17pm Tessa: These pictures are beautiful and the lighting is fabulous! 12.19.07, 11:59am MP: Nice images Susan. You really worked that reflection in the table. It's hard to tell how grainy those images are from this post. Could you upload an original high res file for download? Just any shot, doesn't have to be a "blog worthy" image. People always ask me how I get such great images and what camera I use. You know what I tell them? It's not the camera, but it helps ;) 12.19.07, 11:51am David Christensen: Holly crap! These are amazing! I think this seals the deal for me too. I have two D3's on order and selling all my Canon gear the first of the year. Thanks for the review! 12.19.07, 11:17am |
